PSAL Girls Season Coming to a Close

PSAL Girls fall swim season is well under way with all division champions decided. Curtis is the division champion in Staten Island; Stuyvesant in Bronx-Manhattan; Brooklyn Tech in Brooklyn and Francis Lewis in Queens. Congratulations to all!  Next week begins team playoffs followed by post season competitions in the A and B Division Individual Championships and State Federation Championships.

 Defending champion Stuyvesant is ranked  1st for the playoffs, but not far behind their number one ranking is Brooklyn Tech. Francis Lewis is ranked 3rd and Townsend Harris 4th. Pairings for the playoffs are posted on the PSAL web site and begin Tuesday, November 3 at Ft. Hamilton and Long Island City High Schools

Times posted this year are faster than ever. Seven swimmers have cracked the top 25 times posted overall in the state. Leading the list is Annie Zhu from Brooklyn Tech with top 25 times in the 200 Free, 200 IM, 500 Free, 100 Back and 100 Breast. Sara Giberson, Tottenville has top 25’s in the 100 Back and 500 Free; Joyce Kwok, Francis Lewis, in the 100 Fly and Back; Ashley Qui , Stuvesant, 100 Back; Kellyn McCarthy, Townsend Harris, 100 Breast; Rachel Cho, Cardozzo, 200 Free; and Nicole Rodriguez, Francis Lewis, 500 Free. Faster times are sure to come when the fastest swim in the finals against each other at the PSAL A Division Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday November 14th, 2009  5:00 PM and Sunday November 15th , 2009 12:00 PM at  the Flushing Meadows Aquatic Center.

 A reminder to all coaches that the B Division Swim Championships Sunday, November 8th, 2009 entries are due Friday, October 30 and A Division Swimming and Diving Championships, November 14, 15 are due Friday, November 6. Coaches will have a window of opportunity to correct errors by checking the psyche sheets posted on the web. The Deadline for correcting errors for the B’s is Tuesday, November 3, 12:00 Noon, and Wednesday, November 11, 12:00 Noon for the A’s. Coaches please don’t wait until the last minute to submit your entries. The psyche sheets for the B’s will be posted Monday morning November 2 .
