New York METROPOLITAN Soccer Showcase

NEW YORK METROPOLITAN
SOCCER SHOWCASE

New York Metropolitan Showcase has been established by a group of experienced coaches in January 2008.  The primary purpose of the organization is to assist both male and female student-athletes in the New York City in their efforts to enroll and play soccer at colleges throughout the US.  While the phenomena of college showcases is widespread throughout the US, there are currently none conducted in Brooklyn.

The showcase will be held on Sunday November 22, 2009 at the Parade Grounds Soccer Fields, Brooklyn, New York from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.   High schools from Brooklyn, Manhattan, Staten Island, Queens and the Bronx have been invited to participate in this event.  Students must register in advance

Coaches will be invited for institutions in the New York metropolitan area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) and other states.  We are confident that we will have a minimum of twenty-five college coaches and/or their representatives in attendance.

To be eligible players must have completed their junior year of high school.  Each college coach will have a resume booklet that describes the academic and athletic achievements of each player. The players will wear a numbered shirt that corresponds to the same number on their resume.

Student athletes can apply individually and will be assigned to teams based on player position. Whenever possible, athletes will not play on a showcase team with their former club or high school team mates.

The program will also include presentation by a coach and a student athlete and an information desk will be set up for questions regarding financial aid and generally college admission requirements.  The games will be of a half an hour duration 7V7.

If there are any questions please feel free to call Stan Harmon at (718) 360-1905 or Linval Cunningham at (917) 714-8290.
